Church Newsletter For July 15, 1998

Greetings in the Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ!

Well, once again I'm running late with the newsletter. I was all set to write it up and send it out last night, when a big lightning storm rolled into the area and just would not quit. The storm was actually a blessing, however, as we had been without rain for over a month, and the area had officially been declared as having a mild draught. The problem has been compounded by a breakage in some of the city's main water pipes, which has resulted in a total ban of any outdoor watering, so many lawns and plants in the area have died. And the farmers here in Georgia definitely needed the rain. So I'm not complaining. Thank you, Jesus, for sending the rain last night!

I'd like to thank everyone for the great response to the more frequent rotation of graphics on the bulletin board. I'm trying hard to post a new graphic there every day or so, and judging by your e-mails, you are enjoying the graphics and using them on your own web sites. That's wonderful, and I'm very glad to be of service to you in this way. Fortunately Geocities has recently bumped up the space available to our church to a whopping 14 meg, of which we've only used less than 5 meg so far, so we still have plenty of space to store graphics and stuff. So, if you have a graphic you'd like to see posted on the bbs and to share with the other members of our church, simply send it to me in an e-mail, and I'll upload it to our site and post it on the bbs. Also, if you have a Christian graphic you'd like scanned, and don't have a scanner, mail it to me, and I'll be happy to scan it for you. If you need my mailing address, let me know, and I'll e-mail it to you. And if you haven't been dropping by the bbs regularly, not only are you missing out on some great graphics, but you're also missing out on one of the best ways to share fellowship with the other members of our church. There are many inspirational messages, prayer requests, updates, and all kinds of stuff posted there, so do please visit and leave a message.

One of the big advantages to the bbs is that you can participate in the threaded discussions there regardless of your own time zone, in other words, when it's convenient for you. This is especially important now, since, due to the low rate of participation in our weekly chat sessions, the chat sessions have been suspended for a few weeks, perhaps for the remainder of the season. I hope we'll be able to start having them again in the fall, but only if more members are willing and able to participate. We're getting close to 500 members now, so we should be able to have a good number of participants in the weekly chat sessions. I look forward to when we can resume the weekly chat sessions, but in the mean time, do please stop by the bbs and share fellowship with us there.

Of course, the chat room is still part of our church and remains open at all times, just like the rest of our church, including our School Of Biblical Studies where you can earn your Ph.D. in Biblical Studies. Those who have graduated and received their Ph.D have been very pleased with them, and glad to have had the opportunity to do so. I plan soon to create a page dedicated to the alumni of our school, and may even post photographs of the graduates (if they'll permit that). I'd like to encourage everyone to visit the school and find out more about our Ph.D. program, and, as always, the lessons are free even if you don't pursue a degree. I think anyone with a ministry will find the lessons very useful.

I have a special prayer request I'd like to share with everyone today. One of our members, Denise, whom many of you know by her chat handle, PurplePlum, is undergoing chemo-therapy for cancer. Please keep her in your prayers, that Our Lord will heal our sister of this illness, and that she can come back to us and once again participate in our church. Please pray also for her family as they struggle through this difficult time.

And, as always, please keep all the other members of our church in your prayers, as many of them are struggling through trials and tribulations. Please be sure and visit our prayer request page and pray on the prayer requests posted there. We are, after all, family here, and we should pray for one another at all times.

Finally, I'd like to wish a Happy Birthday to Brother Clarence, one of the very earliest members of our church. I'm not sure exactly which birthday this is, but I know he just had one, so everybody please yell, "Happy Birthday, Clay!" You can visit his web site, by the way, by clicking Here. I know he'll be glad for you to visit.

One more thing...Our church is in bad need of a graphics program called "Quark Express". Unfortunately, it's a very expensive program, so if anyone out there has a copy of this program they'd like to donate to our church, please let me know. Remember, it must be "Quark Express." Thank you so much.

Well, that's going to do it for this issue of the newsletter. Remember, I love you!

Yours in Christ,
Brother Dave
